This year I will be 34. To some this may seem young, but to me this is a big milestone. Why?
I've declared to my friends that this year I am coming out, so be prepared! I am in desperate need of a head to toe overhaul. I have been feeling it for a while now, and like many other working moms I just put myself on the back-burner. My days go by in a blink and are filled with a million things pertaining to family and work. Some women make their personal time a priority, but for some reason I struggle with that. Well, not anymore. I have a tribe of ladies surrounding me that are pushing me to make that time for myself again. I am blessed to have friends who see the beautiful in me even at my worst and encourage me to make that coveted "me" time. I went a full year without getting my hair colored and its been even longer than that since I had a decent hair cut. How sad is that? I am a salon owner! I also have never been great at makeup. I am the one that does my makeup in the car on the way to work and never wears foundation, shadow, or blush. Its a good day if you see me rocking some eye liner. All that is going to change. My good friends Christy and Ginamarie helped me kick off my year of change with my very own CAC makeup experience, some balayage and a much needed haircut. I cringe at the before of my hair...
I asked Gina to brighten me up, but still keep it low maintenance. Baby steps right? We used Sunlights lighter, which I highly recommend, and chose the hair painting technique, balayage. I am sure everyone knows about balayage. It allows me to go much longer without having to have my hair recolored. Being that I am just starting to carve out time for myself, this is the best option for me. We chose to use a clear gloss since we loved the way the blonde lifted. We finished the look with taking off about 2 inches and adding some long layers. My hair has thinned out in the past year so I didn't want to over layer my hair. Next was makeup!
Since I am quite the minimalist when it comes to makeup, I asked Christy to do what she wanted to make me feel full on glam! To help me achieve this glamorous look, she showed me how to contour and highlight to accentuate my facial features. Thanks Christy!
